Martial arts clubs sought for 2010 festival
Martial arts clubs who offer adult classes to Walsall residents are being sought to take part in a festival aimed at encouraging more people to take up the sport.
Walsall Martial Arts Festival 2010 is being organised by Walsall Council's Sport and Leisure Development Services team. It will run from April 11 to 23.
The festival is intended to act as a starting point for people thinking of signing up to martial arts classes where they can find out more information.
Representatives from the various clubs and classes across the borough are being invited to attend and given the opportunity to advertise their own sessions.
Philippa Gay, Walsall Council active lifestyles officer, said: "The aim of the festival is to give adults the chance to see a class in action and decide if it is something they are interested in pursuing.
"Martial arts is already very popular in Walsall but this event is aimed at bringing it to an even wider audience and getting as many people involved as possible."
Venue details and times have yet to be confirmed. Any clubs/instructors interested in signing up to the festival should call Philippa Gay on 01902 605500 or email philippag@walsall.gov.uk for more information.
