Making a mark in Walsall
Schools, groups and organisations which are working to put their Walsall communities on the map could secure funding for their bright ideas.
We are Walsall is a new programme that was launched at The New Art Gallery in May 2009; it will highlight a series of events and projects across the borough.

Central projects include the recent successful St George’s Day celebrations, Diwali, Salaam and Black History Month as well as youth, elderly and disability initiatives. You can see a calendar of the year's planned events and more details here
They have been funded by a national grant and are aimed at involving all of Walsall’s communities.
Tim Challans, Walsall Council assistant director for leisure, culture and lifelong learning, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for groups, schools and organisations which are carrying out their own activities.
“They can apply for funding for any projects that are working to build bridges within communities, support different cultures and encourage relationships between neighbourhoods.
“Five successful groups could each receive £1,200 as starter funding as well as receiving support with developing and marketing their project.
“We Are Walsall is an exciting programme and we want as many people as possible on board so that we can promote the fantastic things that are being achieved in the borough.”
Groups can apply for funding from May 22, following the launch of We are Walsall, and places can be booked by calling Walsall’s Council creative development team on 01922 653114.
Anyone who would like more information or to promote their project as part of We are walsall can call the same number.
